A man has been arrested for the murder of his 13-year-old sister, Nimra Rind, whose charred body was found in the fields of a village in Nawabshah district after he confessed that he had killed his sibling in order to conceal the fact that he had raped her several times.

On November 14, the girl’s father, Mukhtiar Rind, had told police their daughter was kidnapped from their house in village Mir Hassan Rind of Jam Sahib city and her burnt body was later found from a field. Akhtiar Rind, the girl’s brother, had lodged a complaint with the police station in Jam Dattar.

Police had recovered the girl’s charred and naked body from the fields in Babar Rind. Police investigators said the killing looked like it had been planned, and subsequently investigated the family members and their lives. During the investigation, the brother Akhtiar Rind confessed to having a ‘forced sexual’ relationship with his sister. On the night of the incident, her sister had refused to continue the relationship, threatening that she would reveal the matter to their parents, Rind told police in his confession. Rind murdered her in order to conceal his crime, the police said.

SSP Tanveer Tunio told that the police cracked the murder with the help of the victim’s cell phone data and call records. He said Akhtiar Rind was produced before a magistrate and remanded in police custody for further investigations.
