Lockdowns continue in Karachi

The Sindh government revealed that 71 localities and two clusters comprising a total of 676 houses in Karachi have been identified as hotspots. Askari III, Creek Vista Apartments Block A, and DHA Phase VIII have been put under a micro smart lockdown, following two localities in Manghopir. The provincial authorities are now mulling reinstating a complete lockdown if people fail to observe government-issued health guidelines and SOPs.

Three educational institutions sealed in Sargodha

Three educational institutions in Sargodha were sealed on Thursday, October 1 as five students and two teachers tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease.

A student from Farooq Colony Government Girls College, two students and two teachers of Shahpur Government Girls College, and two seventh graders from a government boys’ school in Chak No 88-NB, emerged positive through on-campus sampling.

All three institutions have been sealed and infected individuals isolated – tests are being carried out for the remaining students and teachers. According to district health authorities, the infections occurred due to the non-implementation of SOPs.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa extends health emergency

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued a notification to extend the province-wide health emergency by another two months. The decision came in light of an expected increase in COVID-19 cases as primary schools were finally reopened on September 30. The notification urged the adoption of protective measures to stymy the further spread of the contagion.
