Only 16 out of 633 women inmates in Punjab prisons have been provided free legal assistance under the Women in Distress and Detention Fund Act, according to a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking a court direction to the provincial government for making available such assistance to all women prisoners.

Gujrat police on Thursday arrested two men for impersonating officers, and harassing and filming children in the nude. Raids are being conducted for the arrest of a third suspect.

Asmat Adamjee was granted bail because she could afford a SC lawyer who posted bail. For most female prisoners languishing in jails, their fault is being poor.
