Another Ahmadiyya worship place was targeted in Bedaadpur Wirkan near Muridke, District Sheikhupura on Monday. This attack, allegedly supported by the Punjab Police, adds to a surge of 34 reported cases of desecration and destruction of their places of worship this year.
The Ahmadi community claims out of 32 attacks this year on their places of worship orchestrated by miscreants, especially of the TLP, there were at least 15 cases where the police was directly involved in the demolition. However Punjab Police has denied any involvement in these acts.
The Ahmadiiya community has alleged they have received threats to demolish the minarets and mehrabs of their worship places in Nankana Sahib and Faisalabad. In a fresh incident, unknown persons toppled the minaret of an Ahmadi worship place in Bahawalnagar.
TLP has launched a hate campaign against the Ahmadiyya community and has threatened to demolish minarets at Ahmadiyya worship places calling for protests on Youm-e-Aashur.
An Ahmadiyya place of worship was sealed by police in Sanghar at the insistence of an enraged mob. Meanwhile, gravestones at an Ahmadiyya cemetery were also destroyed in Kotli and Sheikhupura.
