Journalist Qais Javed killed in Dera Ismail Khan
A journalist from the Dera Ismail Khan area has been killed inside his own home by unknown people. Pakistan has seen 100 journalists killed in the last 20 years according to CPJ.
KP govt’s ADR Bill termed ‘parallel judicial system’
According to the draft bill, the Alternate Dispute Resolution System in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ‘will facilitate the settlement of disputes without resorting to formal litigations and to ensure inexpensive and expeditious justice’. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Alternate Dispute Resolution 2020 Act will extend to the whole province but the government can appoint different dates for different areas in the province for enforcement.
Campaigners call for new, independent body for missing persons
Speaking at a webinar, organized by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), to mark the International Day of Enforced Disappearances, I A Rehman said the present inquiry commission had proved ineffective in dealing with cases of enforced disappearances as its head was now chairman of the National Accountability Bureau.
