The KP Bar Council called on CJP Umar Ata Bandial to put the issue of elevation of high court judges to SC, on the supplementary agenda of the Judicial Commission's meeting which is to consider the appointment of nine judges to the Sindh High Court on March 16.

KP Bar Council has demanded early convening of the Judicial Commission to consider the elevation of PHC senior-most judges to the Supreme Court ahead of their retirement as it mounts a protest campaign against the non-elevation of judges from the province.

October 28th, 2020; By Hamid Riaz; LAHORE; Shahid Raza, vice-chairman KP Bar Council called the government’s amendments “unconstitutional” stating that these changes will create undue problems for the litigants and will put further pressure on an already over-burdened High Court. He also criticized the formation of “local commissions” for the purpose of collecting evidence calling it a return to the “Jirga System”.  

October 26th, 2020; Bureau Report; PESHAWAR; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lawyers have been protesting against the amendments in the Code of Civil Procedure for the last few days. The lawyers said that the changes in the law would make the life of litigants more difficult and revive the Jirga system in the province.
