AGHS conducts workshop for grassroots awareness of Anti-Rape Act
AGHS Legal Aid Cell held a two-day training session for over 50 service providers from Lahore. The workshop discussed Anti-Rape Act 2021 which extends its scope to men and transgender survivors of rape, as well as the application of the Act at the grass roots.

Rape conviction rates in Pakistan are extremely low – only about two to three percent. However with the new Anti-Rape Act 2021, special gender based violence (GBV) courts have been established and since then, convictions have risen to around 16 percent however only limited to the GBV courts. Despite the increase, it is still a very low conviction rate.
