A five-year-old girl whimpers in pain, as she lies down in bed. She has been critically injured after her stepfather viciously attacked her with acid inside the house, in the Green Town police jurisdiction in the provincial capital.
According to police, the child was living with her paternal grandfather after her parents’ divorce, a living arrangement that became the backdrop for this traumatic event. On the day of the incident, the girl’s mother requested her former husband and the child’s stepfather, identified as Hameed, along with another individual named Amanat, to bring home the child to her, from the house of her former husband.
But the child steadfastly refused to accompany them, which led to Hameed erupting into an uncontrolled fury. In a frenzy, he picked up some acid and deliberately splashed it on the girl, leaving severe and life-altering burns across 20 percent of her body. The brutal assault, motivated just by apparent rage and revenge, has exposed the harrowing vulnerabilities of children caught in complicated family dynamics, especially domestic violence.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police (Operations) Faisal Kamran has personally intervened in the case, taking the gravity of the incident in a serious stride. A special investigative team has been immediately formed under the leadership of the Station House Officer (SHO) Green Town Police Station to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly.
“The accused involved in this tragic incident will be arrested as soon as possible and brought to justice,” declared Kamran in a police press statement, assuring that the police was fully committed to trace the absconder.
Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Hameed and Amanat to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation, emphasizing the community’s role in ensuring justice and preventing such heinous acts in the future.
Meanwhile, the young victim is currently receiving intensive medical treatment at a local hospital, where doctors are working diligently to manage her critical condition. The physical and psychological trauma she has endured will undoubtedly have long-lasting consequences.
