Artist and painter Fatima Salman on Saturday launched a solo exhibition at the Shakir Ali Museum in Lahore which showcased her miniature art pieces all done three years after she was diagnosed with cancer.

The exhibition displayed 23 art pieces under the theme ‘Why Walk When You Can Fly?’

Fatima Salman told Voicepk.net that the art pieces depicted her different moods beginning with the time when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2019.

The miniatures also cover the Covid-19 pandemic period in the country. One of the paintings for example shows men encaged while animals are roaming free highlighting the stark social distancing measures and human isolation during the pandemic.

Notable senior artists Salima Hashmi and RM Naeem also visited the exhibition which was attended by the public and art lovers in the city.

Praising Fatima Salman’s works, Salima Hashmi said the artist has brought novelty into the traditional art of miniature painting by fusing it with other traditional arts of carpet weaving and textiles in the subcontinent.

The exhibition also featured a Sarangi instrumental performance by Zohaib Hassan.
