Child pornographer nabbed in Sialkot
Acting on a tip-off from Interpol, the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Wing on Wednesday, February 3, arrested one Zaheer from his home in Sialkot for distributing child pornography online. The FIA managed to confiscate the suspect’s cellphone and laptop, and have registered a case against him.
Man hacks wife to death for ‘honour’ in Faisalabad
Falak Sher, a resident of Chak 459 GB Lundianwala, Faisalabad district, hacked to death his wife Ishrat in the name of ‘honour’ on Wednesday.
According to the FIR, filed by the deceased’s brother Sadi Ahmed, Ishrat (36) had married Falak 16 years ago and had four children with him. Falak however cast doubt over her ‘character’.
On the day of the incident, the suspect thrashed his wife and then called his in-laws to take her away with them. Ishrat’s brother and cousin went to retrieve her, but when she went into a room to change, her husband hacked at her thrice with a cleaver and then fled while voicing his doubts on her ‘character’. The victim succumbed to her wounds while being shifted to a hospital.
Lundianwala police have registered a case under sections 34 (common intention), 302 (intended murder) and 311 (punishment for murder/honour killing irrespective of compromise), and are on the hunt for the at-large suspect.
Agreement penned on refugees’ technical education
The University of Engineering Technology (UET) in Peshawar, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday signed an agreement on extending academic opportunities for Afghan refugees. The agreement will facilitate access to academic programmes and professional training courses to develop technical skills and further academic as well as career opportunities for refugee students.
