Hundreds of Mehsud tribesmen held a demonstration outside the Deputy Commissioner’s camp office in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The tribesmen are protesting the delay in payment compensation for houses damaged in the Rah-i-Nijaat operation in South Waziristan.

On January 27, the protesters rode to Tank in vehicles from South Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, and other areas of KP.

The affected tribesmen accused the district administration of corruption saying surveyors had taken Rs 100,000 from each household.

Maulana Essamuddin, JUI-F MPA from South Waziristan, claimed that survey committees had issued tokens to affected tribesmen, but they still had not been paid compensation.

The demonstrators vowed to continue their protest and sit-in till the last affected tribesman was paid compensation.
