Man kills sister over karo-kari
One Liaqat Shar, a resident of Ubauro town of Ghotki district in northern Sindh gunned down his sister Subhana for honour after accusing her of having an affair with a boy. Shar is reportedly at large as police have yet to confirm or deny the absconder’s arrest. Moreover, media reports state that there is no evidence if any raids are being conducted to nab the suspect. Meanwhile, police have shifted the deceased to a hospital for an autopsy.
Hindu couples tie knot in mass wedding
The Pakistan Hindu Council on Sunday, January 10, organized a mass wedding ceremony for some 50 deserving Hindu couples from Sindh and Balochistan. The event was held at the Railway Ground along I. I. Chundrigar Road in Karachi. While over a hundred couples tie the knot in the Hindu Council’s annual program, the participant list was halved after careful scrutiny owing to pandemic concerns. Couples, families, guests and organizations were provided masks and hand sanitizers for the event.
Couple wounded in cross-border firing
An elderly couple of Khaitar Baroh village in Bhimber district, Azad Jammu and Kashmir were injured in ‘unprovoked’ firing by Indian forces across the line of control. Mohammad Khalil (65) and his wife Faryad Bibi (58) were shifted to a health facility where they were declared out of danger after receiving treatment for their injuries. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has recorded 38 ceasefire violations by Indian troops since the beginning of the new year.
