Punjab Allows Home Isolation for COVID Patients

Punjab government has allowed home isolation for patients showing mild or no symptoms as per WHO guidelines. A home isolated patient will be bound to inform authorities about his condition on a daily basis.

Home isolation will not be allowed in cases where there is the danger of the virus spreading due to the cooling and heating system. Isolated patients will be allowed to provide food in disposable utensils only.

Doctors Urge Govt Not To Lift Restrictions

Doctors’ associations have urged the Punjab government not to lift lockdown, citing the fast spread of coronavirus in the province. Doctors warned that the number of infections will increase rapidly in the coming weeks.

The medics said that the crowd in markets and other public places had set alarm bells ringing for health professionals.

Karachi ATCs Lack Of Safety Measures

Staffers and lawyers at Anti-terrorism courts in Karachi are vulnerable to COVID-19 as the premise lacks safety measures. The court staff said that four people have been tested positive for the virus but the courts are still functional.

Punjab Announces Relief Package For Media Workers

Punjab government decided to give Rs100,000 for any media worker who contracts coronavirus in line of duty. Punjab government promises a grant of Rs 1 million to families of media workers who die of the virus. Besides the grant, the government will also give a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 to the family of the deceased.

Hospitals Running Out Of Beds

Sindh’s Health Minister warned that hospitals are running out of beds, ventilators as a number of infections rise. Azra Fazal Pechuho said the number of patients is increasing every 30 mins since the lockdown was relaxed.

47 Inmates In Punjab Test Positive 

The Federal Ombudsman has told the SC that 47 prisoners have tested positive for coronavirus in Punjab. The report also highlighted the issue of overcrowding in jails and recommended that prisoners with HIV, Hepatitis, TB should be kept apart from others.
