PFUJ Demand Denotification of Social Media Regulations

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has launched a national movement in collaboration with the legal fraternity and civil society organisations to demand the denotification of the social media rules approved by the federal cabinet. The rules pose serious threats to the right to freedom of expression, media independence, and the digital economy in the country.

As part of its efforts, PFUJ organized a consultative meeting in Islamabad with anchors about the social media rules to build a joint response and combined strategy to resist authoritarian efforts to control free speech.

Senior journalists and anchors like Talat Hussain, Nasir Malick, Arshad Sharif, Munizae Jahangir, Khawar Grumman, Arifa Noor, Gharida Farooqi, Afzal Butt, Matiullah Jan and Secretary General PFUJ Nasir Zaidi attended the event.
