Transgender dancer shot dead in Mardan
A transgender dancer was shot dead and several others were injured after participants resorted to firing at a musical gathering in Takhbai tehsil of Mardan.
A well-known transgender dancer Mubashir Syed alias Kolajai died on the spot in the firing at the Labour Colony. A stampede broke out in the gathering as a result of which several people were also injured. The accused managed to escape from the scene.
Sarushah police registered a case against Bilawal, Jaane and a third unidentified male. The police is conducting raids at various places to arrest the accused. The transgender community protested against the incident and called upon the government to protect them against such attacks.
Man held for assaulting woman in Multan
A man has been arrested for harassing and assaulting a woman in Multan after the video of the incident went viral on social media.
The police took action after the viral CCTV video showed the man harassing a woman. In the video, the woman is seen walking in a street when the suspect stops his motorcycle near her and says something to her. The woman rejects his advances but the motorcyclist then slaps her before driving off.
IHC tells IGP to help Ghotki woman
The Islamabad High Court has directed the capital police to provide assistance to a woman in honour killing case in Ghotki.
Samina approached the court for protection after influential tribal elders declared her guilty according to the homicidal tribal tradition of Karo Kari in her hometown Ghotki. She said the elders have registered a case against her in Daharki. She is currently living in Islamabad with her children.
Hearing a petition to provide protection to the woman, Chief Justice Athar Minallah said the court could not do much about a case registered in Ghotki. The woman’s counsel told the court that the capital police is not recording her statement. The chief justice directed the Inspector General of Islamabad Police to look into the matter.
