Boy’s rapists, murderers apprehended

Some four days back, in Qilla Abdullah, Balochistan, two suspects were charged by the Levies personnel, with the abduction and sexual assault of an eight-year-old boy. This arrest was confirmed by Qilla Abdullah’s Deputy Commissioner, Tariq Javed Mengal. The child was kidnapped by these unidentified men and was later found hanging from a tree in an orchard.

9 arrested for enforcing Swara

Inspector Mohammad Hussain Khan told a press conference on Sunday, October 11, that the police had been informed by a source that an eight-year-old girl had been married to a thirteen-year-old boy under the Swara custom, in the Charkoom area of Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A nikah ceremony was also held. The jirga was called on the request of the teenager’s father, and the young girl was given to the teenage boy after her brother spoke on the phone with the boy’s sister. A special team was constituted by Deputy sub-inspector (DSP) Amjad Ali, which apprehended nine members of the jirga, along with the Pesh Imam who solemnized the nikah. The names of the arrested jirga members were as follows; prayer leader, Maulana Rahimullah, Farid Khan, Ameer Nawab, Fazal Rahman, Ajab Khan, Sartaj Khan, Tajbar Khan, Faiz Mohammad, and Askar.

Minor girl gang-raped in Lahore

On Friday, October 9, a fifteen-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped in the Manga Mandi area of Lahore. Her father had left for a workshop at some distance from her home, and her mother had also left the house for some work. The teenager was alone at her house and was lured to the home of the accused by a suspect identified as ‘Ali Raza’ after being told that her mother was calling her. The victim claims that the alleged accuser then locked her in a room, where he along with three accomplices then subjected her to rape. This case was noticed by the Punjab Inspector General Inam Ghani, while the Lahore Capital City Police Officer Umar Sheikh ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident.
